Review: Beautiful Disaster, By Jamie McGuire
Type of Book: Young Adult (crossing the lines sometimes though)
Review:“Why is it that everything that should make you want to run in the opposite direction is suddenly sexy as hell and you can’t stop reading?”
This is exactly how I felt about this book!
While this book was very addicting and hard to put down, I also found myself to be annoyed at times. Abby andTravis come from two completely different worlds (or so it seems). Travis is an absolute man-whore, and Abby is some what of a ‘goody goody’. These two together have so many problems, their relationship gave me permanent whiplash. At first, their characters were really unsure of themselves and kind of fought against their own feelings, which was really frustrating. At the same time though, it was nice to see these two characters really develop into something more.
Even though Travis and Abby’s relationship frustrated me half the time, it was refreshing to read all of the emotion that was sizzling off the pages. You want to hate them as much as you love them.
I was also surprised to see a lot of action in this book! It wasn’t just your typical ‘love’ story. I would finish a chapter and I’d have to jump right into the next one because I just had to see what was going to happen next!
With that said, I would really recommend reading this book for the ‘Young Adults’ as well as anyone in their 20′s.
Synopsis:The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.
Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.
It actually sounds like a good book! :)
