Imaginary Lines by Allison Parr

Imaginary Lines is a great read - especially for me, this time of the year, when I'm itching for football. The story follows Tamar and Abraham who've been in each other's lives for like, ever. Their families are each others families. They may as well be family. Tamar once professed her love to Abe in college, and they haven't spoken since.... until she lands a job where he's the big shot linebacker for one of NYC's finest Pro football teams. The trouble with Abe's job, is that Tamar's job is to report on Abe..and his team, because she's a sports reporter. I mean, there's just all sorts of problems that could arise from that.

Luckily, this book didn't go through climaxes where they break up because the pressure is just too much, or whatever other crazy reason that characters tend to break up only to get back together, break up again..and get back together again like in some books. (I know you guys know what I mean). That doesn't happen here. Allison Parr is an amazing storyteller, in that, she keeps it very realistic. Very easy to see yourself standing in the same place with her characters and being their friends. The problems that arise (because inevitably problems DO have to arise), are realistic and make sense in the story. I can't say enough good things about this! It sucks to read a book and then the plot twist is just so outlandish that it ruins the story, you know? Allison is a master at plot twists.. and I'm a forever fan after reading her book.

Let me also say, that Allison touches on things that are real life problems in the book. It's not a book that's just like "oh let's have a love story." There are REAL LIFE issues in this book that can always use more time in the spotlight. I'm just absolutely floored and head over heals in love with Imaginary Lines and with Allison Parr. I hope you guys pick it up ASAP.

On another note, I'll add that her main character, Tamar is hilarious. Her inner monologue had me laughing so hard...and I can always get behind a quirky character. So, Kudos Allison Parr, you've done an amazing job with this story - and you should be so proud of it.

Imaginary Lines Synopsis:

Tamar Rosenfeld has been in love with New York Leopards linebacker Abraham Krasner since they were twelve years old. She'd always considered it destiny that they'd end up together…until Abe was drafted and she professed her feelings in a moment of blind excitement. The sting of his rejection was like nothing she'd ever felt before, and it's nothing she'll ever forget.
Older and wiser, Tamar has landed a dream job as a reporter for one of New York's premier athletic websites. Determined to stop being the safe, boring girl she's felt like for most of her life, Tamar makes a list of all the things she wants to do and see in her new city, and Getting Over Abraham is priority number one.
But destiny has finally chosen to interfere. Just as Tamar's decided to move on, Abe's realized she's the only woman for him. When he confides the truth, Tamar has to decide if she can put her crush behind her, or take a chance on the very man who's been holding her back all these years.
