Review: Five Ways To Fall + Giveaway
Five Ways To Fall by K.A. Tucker
Five Ways To Fall is probably my fave book in the Ten Tiny Breaths series by K.A. Tucker. And don't worry: if you haven't read any of the series, it's:
a. Not too late and
b. You can read them as stand alones.
So no whining. Start reading instead.
We've met Ben in all of the past books. He's conceited and arrogant and has a sense of humor a mile wider than it needs to be. Somehow though, those things really work for him. Probably because while he acts like he knows he's the best lay you'll ever have, (and probably is) he doesn't really believe that at his core. He knows his body is too hard for any girl with a somewhat normal level of hormones to resist, and when he's funny to boot? He's basically the hottest thing on the planet.
He's the unlikely smart guy. The jock who doesn't just make it through law school, but finishes at the top of his class, then spends a week in a foreign country sleeping with as many women as he can.
Enter Reese MacKay. She's sharp tongued, harsh, and owns her colored hair and piercings. She's been put through the ringer by the only "real" relationship she's ever had and if I said she wasn't hung up on that I would be lying. But it makes her strong. She doesn't sit around crying about how her ex completely threw trust out the window for her. Instead, she plots revenge. (My kinda girl.)
Said revenge gets her landed in jail, to be out of options when it comes to a phone call. She chooses to call on her attorney ex-step-dad who's never judged and always loved and it's one of those choices that just seals fate. Followed by a trip to previously discussed foreign country to let it all go? A country where a newly graduated attorney is on the prowl for women who make him tick? (Hint: it's the mad ones.) Yeah, I would call that fate. Though it's not all heartbreak turned to sunshine and rainbows. In this book you'll read about vomiting on said graduated attorney when trying to be sexy, nailing your ex's naked ass with paintballs, games of manipulation, and ultimately, people not looking for love who find it in the most unexpected places.
If Ben doesn't make you laugh, and Reese doesn't make you giggle and want to high five her, then I'm not sure we can be friends. (Okay, we can be because you're allowed to have terrible taste I guess.) seriously though, you'll love this story. It's the best of Tucker's yet and I think it's because the situations are so relatable. They're possible. And we all love possibilities with hot, smart, funny jocks, right?
Synopsis:
Sometimes you can’t change—and sometimes you just don’t want to. Discover Ben’s side of the story in this fourth novel by the beloved, top-selling indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths,One Tiny Lie, and Four Seconds to Lose.
Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her.
Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about.
If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…
And don’t forget the rest of the Ten Tiny Breaths Series…
And Don’t forget to Preorder…
About K.A. Tucker:
Born in small-town Ontario, Kathleen published her first book at the age of six with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons. She is a voracious reader and the farthest thing from a genre-snob, loving everything from High Fantasy to Chick Lit. Kathleen currently resides in a quaint small town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls, and an exhausting brood of four-legged creatures.
I like a book boyfriend who is swoon worthy! You know, the kind that doesn't exist in real life LOL
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds just as good as the rest! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. I can add Ben to my list of Swoon Worthy Saturday men :)
