New York Times bestseller Claire Contreras brings you a sexy new standalone…
I'm naturally gifted on the field and between the sheets. With flashy cars and enough media attention to put the Royal Family to shame, I’m the definition of Most Eligible Bachelor.
Every man wants to be me and every woman wants to tame me. Until Camila.
The moment I lay eyes on her, I know I have to have her.
She wants to keep me at arm's length.
I want her naked in my bed.
She thinks our worlds are too different.
All I want her to think about is screaming my name.
She says I’m bad news.
I have three weeks to prove her wrong.
"War Zone! War Zone! War Zone!"
Where do I even begin with this book? Claire Contreras is at her best with The Player. From the first page, I knew this was going to be my favorite book of hers and I wasn't wrong. I was completely submersed into this world and I never wanted to leave. I already feel a re-read happening.
Camilla has a good life...a hard life but a good one. She has a job that she loves, a family that loves her, and as far as she knows she has a pretty good life. She might not have the most money or have the best apartment, or live in the safest of neighborhoods but she has the best life that she could possibly have. That is until she finds out that the apartment complex that she lives in is being torn down by Belmonte. The biggest and one of the most successful real estate and investment companies.
After having a rough start to her day, she decides to go and speak her mind about the building being torn down. But her words seem to get lost when she sees a young and very attractive man sitting on the board. Though he may be very hot...very good-looking, that doesn't stop the fact that he is part of the company that is tearing down her home.
Warren Silva, one of the most beloved men in the world. One of the hottest, sexiest, football player in the world. Everyone knows his name. War Zone! When that name is chanted, everyone knows who it is. But Camila seems to know nothing about him. She doesn't watch soccer or football as the english like to call it. Though he seems to be some kind of sports god, she sees the man he really is.
These two are thrown into each others lives and even though they hadn't planned for it, their worlds are about to be shaken up. They are exactly what they never knew they needed.
"Life is short. We're only here to chase moments."
They need each other. They can't live without each other but they are from completely different parts of the world. Literally. They know it will never work out but that doesn't stop them from trying to make it work. Even though many things try to pull them apart. Secret photos, ex-girlfriends, families, and secrets that aren't meant to be kept secret.
Camilla and Warren soon become everything to each other. Like air, they need each other. Warren never thought he would settle down but it's something that he can imagine with her. The thought should scare him but it doesn't...it excites him.
"I couldn't be this close to her and not kiss her, not hold her, not touch her."
But when secrets come to light, will these two be able to handle the truth or will they crumble like Camilla always thought they would? She knew they would never last and maybe she's right. But will Warren give up and let her be happy? Or will he fight...until he gets that winning goal. His Pretty Girl.
Warren and Camilla go through a journey in this book that will have you smiling, crying, and laughing right along with them. They are truly breathtaking to read. I loved every word of this book and I wish there was more. But like they say everything must come to an end and this is a book/ending that you won't want to miss.
"I'd give up everything to chase moments with the right woman."
Claire Contreras is a New York Times Best Selling Author. Her books range from romantic suspense to contemporary romance and are currently translated in seven different languages.
She lives in Miami, Fl with her husband, two adorable boys, three bulldogs, and two stray cats that she refuses to admit are hers (even though they live on her porch, she named them, and continues to feed them). When she's not writing, she's usually lost in a book.
