BAD FOR YOU

J. Daniels...where to even begin with her writing and characters. She has written some of my all time favorite books and continues to write them. Frankly...I would read this ladies grocery list. If you haven't read her Sweet Addiction series or her Alabama Summer series or her Dirty Deeds series, you're missing out on some of the best stories and most swoon worthy characters. 

"He never wanted anything in return for his actions. He never assumes or anticipated acknowledgment. He was simply...good. He was a good man." 

I had been waiting and waiting for this book to release. Bad For You was a highly anticipated book for me and let me tell you, it DIDN'T disappoint. I'm pretty sure this became my all-time favorite book of hers. 

Sean is a troubled man. He had a terrible upbringing that steers his life into a troubled path. But Sean has paid his penitence and never plans on going back to that life. But he thinks he's nothing, that he's worth nothing and that he doesn't deserve anything. But when Shayla gives him her eyes and her attention, he knows he can't have it. He doesn't deserve it. 

"She did things for me I never expected. She smiled at me. She hugged me. She helped me. She wanted me around. She did all of this without being obligated. She just did it." 

Shayla is the complete opposite of Sean. She's energetic, she's full of life, and she's happy. Shay doesn't let much get her down but she doesn't stand for people messing with those she loves. Her and Sean used to have a good friendship. She loved to talk his ear off and he would cook and listen. Never saying anything but simply listening. But that changed one night when he basically stood her up. But Shayla misses their relationship and misses how they used to be. She's determined to win his friendship back and dig deeper into his heart of stone. But she isn't prepared for the pain she is going to find. 

"You put food in front of a starving man, he's going to eat it. No matter if he thinks he deserves it or not. It was about survival. And Shayla was keeping me alive." 

Sean and Shayla are exactly what they never knew they needed. These two have a hard road ahead of them but nothing worth having ever comes easy. J has written a stellar read that will have you reaching for the wine and digging into the chocolate. Shay and Sean will leave you in a pit of feels and begging for more.
