His world was water and rhythm.  Hard work and drive kept Royal O'Connell one step ahead of his competition. His spot on the swim team, keeping his scholarship, was the only plan that mattered.

His world was ebony and ivory. Natural talent and ambition set Camden Morgan apart from the other music majors. His dedication scoring him a full ride.

Normally, their paths would have never crossed….

But when Royal meets his best friend's new roommate, his big plan and Camden’s controlled environment faces a variable that could destroy it all.

Attraction.

The world they live in had no room for error. That undeniable pull between them was dangerous and neither one of them could've prepared for the choice they'd have to make.

Love isn't always an easy road and, when everything they've worked for is on the line, they'll have to decide if being together is worth the risk.

*This is not a traditional duet*
 *Not A Cliff Hanger*

"My heart was too heavy in my chest, my sins a burden to the keys, and the keys alone knew all of my secrets."

Sometimes there is a book, that you can't put into words. That knocks you off your feet and leaves you on the floor reeling in what you just read. It's very hard for me to come across those books because I live for words. I live for those words that move mountains and sing to your soul. The words that seem like they were written just for you, that's what A. M. Johnson does to me.

She writes these words that are so powerful and so profound, that they move you to want to be a better you. To live a better life because her characters can and will.

"Royal was a cello, deep and smooth, and it was his melody that played the loudest."

Let There Be Light follows the story of Royal and Camden. These two are unlike any other characters you will ever read. They will steal your heart and you won't ever want it back. My heart still rests in Royal's hands and I'm totally okay with that. Royal and his twin sister Indie are so excited to finally be embarking on this new journey in their life. College. In the beautiful states of Oregon, these two set out for the start of their lives. But the last thing Royal was expecting was to find himself drawn to his swim captains roommate.

"I wanted to be changed. I wanted to be remade under his touch. I wanted to never doubt that this was righteous and good -- this was ours."

Camden is quite, he finds solace in the keys he plays. He loses himself to the music. Music. That's all he needs. Just to be able to play. He's used to people calling him names, thinking he's weird and not talking to him. He's gotten used to it over the years, especially having parents that are always trying to "fix" him. But the things is... you can't fix gay. And that's what he is, gay. He's known for awhile but he's never really spoken out about it or expressed his feelings. Camden likes to be to himself. He finds comfort in the walls of his room. But that changes when one guy speaks to him like he isn't a freak. Like he isn't someone different. But his equal. Royal sees Camden for everything that he is and everything he is worth.

"Royal was a beacon and I was hopelessly drawn to him."

Royal's life is shaken. Shaken to it's very core. That he finds himself drawn to Camden, attracted to him. But he's not scared, he finds comfort in Camden. He finds hope in watching his fingers stretch over the keys. And neither one of them can shake the feelings for each other. It's just something they are going to have to figure out on their own if they aren't torn apart first.

"That one kiss. That one incredible...life changing kiss had the potential to destroy us both."

Let There Be Light is a whole new ball game for reading. This book took me to a whole other level of reading. Her words will pour off the page and seep into your skin. You will be left thinking about this book and these characters long after you've closed the page. Johnson has a profound gift at writing, a rare talent at captivating feelings in a way that no other writer can. This book is high on my list for top books of the year and I could go on forever about this book but in better words...read it and then you will understand my feelings. Goosebumps will live on your skin while you read.
