Blog Tour: CRAVE by Tracy Wolff
Publisher: Entangled: Teen
Release Date: April 7th 2020
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal
My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.
Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.
Which could spell death for us all.
Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait.

Q: Where did you draw your inspiration for CRAVE?
A: Honestly, I’ve always loved vampires. Dracula, The Lost Boys, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, The Carpathians, The Farm, Boys that Bite, Twilight, Morganville … I’m here for them all! I never thought I’d write a vampire series, though, because I didn’t want to write one unless I had an original take on vampires. But when Jaxon’s world came to me (much of which will be revealed in books two and three of the series), I knew I wanted to write it. Once I had him and Grace and Flint fleshed out, the story just kind of poured out of me ☺.
Q: What kind of research did you do while writing? Did you read any specific books?
A: I did so much research, which is not a problem because researching for my books is one of my favorite things about writing. I learned so much about Alaska and boarding schools and vampire lore before I ever sat down to write the book and it was so much fun. Like, did you know the aurora borealis occurs because of solar winds and the different colors happen because of different elements in the atmosphere?
I didn’t read any specific books going into Crave, but I did read a ton of different articles. Do you have any idea how many sites are dedicated to castles and gothic architecture? The answer is SOOOOOO MANY!
Q: Who is your favorite character to write? Who is your least favorite?
A: This is actually a really hard question for me because I enjoyed writing almost all the characters, honestly. I loved writing Grace, Jaxon, Flint and Macy the most, but Mekhi, one of the secondary characters, was also a ton of fun to write. I love him a lot. As for my least favorite … probably Cole, the alpha for the wolf shifters. He’s not a very nice person/character.
Q: Which character do you relate to/with the most?
A: Oh, Grace, definitely, although I have all the empathy in the world for Jaxon. Seriously. I love him a lot. But there’s a lot of me in this book, and a lot of me in Grace specifically, so yeah. I relate to her a lot.
Q: How did you come up with the chapter titles?
A: Actually, titling the chapters was my editor’s idea (she’s brilliant, obviously). But the actual chapter titles were a conglomeration of suggestions. I came up with a lot of them as I was doing my edits on the book, my sons came up with several (Carpe Kill-Em, for example, my middle son thought of when he was joking around with my oldest son), my editor came up with a few, and my bff came up with a couple (including the one about the Wooden Stake …
Q: What are you currently reading?
A: I am currently reading the new Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson book, Smoke Bitten. I love this series soooo much!
Q: If you could choose one book to read again for the first time what would it be?
A: Ooooh, that’s such a hard question. And a good one! Hmmm … maybe Jandy Nelson’s The Sky is Everywhere. I had such a strong reaction to that book the first time I read it. I wouldn’t mind having all those thoughts and ideas and feelings again.
Q: If you could travel to one fictional world which one would you choose to visit?
A: Oh, that’s easy. Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling world. I love every single thing about the world she has created in that series.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—in second grade, around the same time she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. A one-time English professor with over fifty novels to her name, she now devotes most of her time to writing romance and dreaming up heroes. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her family.
